Losing
Seeing my friend Lori at her baby shower gave me a reality check about my weight. I know I gained a lot since I stopped breastfeeding Lucas and I haven't been back to shape since then. I knew all along that I needed to lose some weight. I worked on it quite a few times, but I haven't tried that hard to be consistent. I thought I looked ok--not great, but ok.
Yet I couldn't believe that my 8-month pregnant friend looked even slimmer standing next to me! Years ago, we spent long weekends together. We would try on each others' clothes. We would look at ourselves in the mirror wearing our bikinis or underwears and we would marvel at how our bodies were shaped very much alike. We weighed about the same for a long time, but that has changed in the last couple of years.
We both love to eat! But my friend maintains an active lifestyle and I don't. Like me, she also hates exercising and going to the gym. But she pushes herself to go to cardio and dance classes to stay active. I tried that one too and it worked. I shed off pounds dancing, but that success was short-lived because when I later found an excuse to quit, I did.
Now there are no more excuses (well, there never really was). I resolve to slim down and I am committed to achieving that. It's been four weeks now since I added exercise back into my routine and I am happy to report that I have lost about 5 pounds. I have just stepped below the 130-lb mark.
My goal is to hit 120 lbs. It ain't going to be easy. But if I'm halfway there in 3 months, I am a happy camper! It helps to have the support of people around me, like the husband who happily watches Lucas while I work out, and throws compliments when he too sees the results. And seeing results is even more encouraging. Early this week, I wore a favorite suit that I had not worn since I was 4 months pregnant. I can see and feel a few inches coming off my waist and my energy level is definitely up.
No efforts stay unrewarded--this I keep in mind these days. I sure hope I can keep up this time around and feel good about my body once again.
Photos will help me track progress (or the lack thereof)

i honestly think, you are in great shape..;-) but im not an expert much more on weight matters;-) i feel you though, when you said, its such a wke-up call to see some of our friends who maintained their weights all through the years because they're doing something about it..;-)
go for it,Liz..;-) i have no doubt you'll do it;-)
good job liz... keep it coming --- it's so funny how we devour intensely in loosing weight but for me it's definitely a necessity (well other than we want to look gorgeous), but more so to live a healthy lifestyle because i want to see my girls grow and enjoy growing up with them.
We can do this!!!
by the way liz, your pancakes and bun looks very yummy... oppsss, cindy focus =)

Chel, thanks for the vote of confidence! As we get older, staying in shape becomes more and more difficult. Especially for food-lovers like myself. I am happier eating than exercising. :-)

Ironic kaayo Cinds noh that I'm talking about losing weight and I'm posting photos of food?! Hahaha! Temptation man ni instead of motivation.
BTW, how are you doing with your P90X?
liz, i think you look great. you are right though, it is important to keep a regimen and keep your weight under control. i for one is having a whole lot of trouble getting to my pre-insoy weight. i now think of the exercise as a healthy choice more than a weight loss requirement. =)

I agree, Chi! We should be exercising to stay healthy rather than to just lose weight. However, if I think about exercising to stay healthy, I easily lose track, labi na kung naa'y lami nga pagkaon. But when I think about losing weight and looking great, there's that added motivation. Hehehe...
CUZ, you look great! i am always late checking your blog. we talked about this this afternoon, and i must say, we are now inspired to buy an elliptical as well. but our problem is where to put it. sigh. we'll see. otherwise, when the weather clears, i will go back to running. congrats on getting under the 130 lb mark. i'm still there, and my goal is 125. sigh. it's only about 5-7 lbs, but man oh man, those are the hardest to take off. my number one priority is taking a few inches of this ugly tummy, yikes!

Cuz, you can either sell your stationary bike or just stick it in the garage and put the elliptical in the living room. Hehehe...
