Baby Boom...Baby Bloom

I just learned today that another colleague of mine is pregnant!

She's the fifth female at work who's expecting and all five of us are due within a 12-month period. And here's more--this isn't counting the wives of three male colleagues in the same office who are also expecting babies this year!

I find it overly strange [and creepy] that for the last seven years that I've worked here, there was not a single pregnancy, and then KABOOM!... eight babies in one year!

"There must be something in the waters..." says one of our co-workers. Or are we having another baby boom???

And by the way, there are three other people I know outside of work who either just had a baby or expecting one.

Photo shows my orchid starting to bloom. Since this is the one and only flowering plant that I've kept alive (I am so bad with plants), I get excited looking at the flowers bloom one day at a time. This reminds me of the pregnant women at work--one started and several others followed.

liz, orchids are the most difficult to take care of. kahinanglan dili kaayo init and then dili kaayo grabe ang tubig. you have it in you to breed orchids and babies. basta naay love. isturyahi pirme imong orchids kay ganahan kaayo na sila istoryahan. i had orchids before and mura ko boang everyday sige check ug buwak and counting how many are alive. makalingaw kaayo ang tanom. now i grow cactus, mao nalang akong kalingawan, they do have flowers too but not as difficult to raise.

Hi Dee! I actually think that the background in this photo--no matter how soft it is, is still distracting. I wish it was cleaner.

CUZ--sure, sure! Come to my workplace anytime! Paimnon tika sa among tubig, hehe!

Hi Chi! I'm not really good with plants. I've had so many orchids before but all of them died. This particular one was a birthday gift from last year. For some reasons it stayed alive--I think it's because of where I placed it. Right now, it gets indirect sunlight and I only water it once in every two weeks or whenever I remember. Nabuhi ra man sad and it started giving flowers! The other plants we have at home--those that are still alive are there because they're so low maintenance.

liz, nice kaayo imo orchid. reminds me of the ones we had at home in cebu. anyway, hala in-ana pud ang nahitabo sa amo hospital when i was pregnant wih my first. there was a shortage of staff coz a lot of us had to take maternity leave unya tag 1yr baya amo gi take. it wasn't just in one area/ward, it was all throughout the hospital. the managers said it was really strange and that there must have been something in the "air". air lang to amo, not water. nalingaw lang ko when you wrote that kay pareha jud na phenomenon, if i may call it that.

Ate Liza, back here at home they say that when you can take care of orchids you can take care of any plant. Orchids are the hardest to care for...I remember my lola had to sing and talk to her orchids every day.

About This Blog

I got interested in photography when I met my husband. He loved photography since the 80's when he owned a Canon AE1 SLR camera. When we got married, we met a great photographer who inspired me even more. I started taking photos when my husband and I got our DSLR camera back in 2005. I never really shared my photos. But lately, I've been introduced to photoblogging and I saw it to be a great way of expression. My photos are amateur but I hope to learn more as I blog and connect with people.
