New Hope...
...is what comes to mind whenever I think about the main event of the day--the inauguration of Barack Obama as the new US President.
It is still highly uncertain what he will bring to the presidency or where he will lead the country to, but everything I saw today--from the jubilant faces of the crowd who personally witnessed his swearing in to the tearful women just watching from their homes--everything I saw spells H.O.P.E.

cuz, this is beautiful! asa ni? i was trying to look for a photo to represent how i felt after hearing obama's speech today. so far, no dice.
i'm not an american citizen, but listening to him today, i felt like crying. obama can really inspire, can't he?
Liz, I stayed up until two a.m just to watch Obama's oath taking. I really pray he will give opportunities to filipino nurses like me..
Hi Cuz! This is at the Embarcadero in San Francisco--I think Pier 41 is what it's called.
I love it here and I used this photo because it's a long path/walkway but well-lighted and it stands out at night. I think it represents what Obama can bring--light in times of darkness.
I wasn't a big fan of him--I was rooting for Hillary. But listening to him yesterday made me realize that this time I think the people picked the right guy for the job!
Hello Mai! Same here--I hope Obama can bring opportunities not only for nurses but also other professionals who seek opportunities here in the US.
wonderful composition --- as what scott kelby says in his book "tack sharp" [very nice book]. liz, loveee itttt!!! more, more, more inspiring photos pleaseeee!!!
Thanks Dee! I, too love Scott Kelby's books--I consider them my photography bible, hehe. I like the way he writes--very straightforward and easy to understand for beginners like me.
hopeful gyud tinuod ang tanan who rooted for obama. with a lot of people supporting him, i don't see why he won't be successful in his dreams for the nation. it is surely a tough one for him but if he is able to change the outlook, i'm sure malahi na gyud ang tan-aw sa mga tao sa black people. they will earn respect gyud. makahilak pud mi oi, layo ra gani mi. it is like emotions were just so real and everyone was happy.
liz, i agree with what you said here. i wasn't a big fan of him myself, but so far, i feel that every minority seems represented somehow in him. also, i love this shot. you do evening/night photography so well. i am already falling in love with the place. one day...i'll visit it with my hubby and kids...that spells H.O.P.E. i am hopeful, hehe.
plus you have lampposts here. i seem to have a love affair with them!
Thanks Keth! Hey, let me know when you come visit. We should meet up! I'll be happy to take you and your family to this place and other places to see in SF.
oh, thanks so much liz. i truly appreciate that. come to think of it, we haven't even really met in person, but i already feel the warmth of your hospitality. you never cease to amaze me. i would love the opportunity to one day meet you and your family.

Hi Lynette! Thanks! I played around with my settings using the basic tips I got from a photography article that I came across.
