Night Shots Metering

I love night shots and I've been trying to get better at it through a little bit of reading and a lot of practice.

So my "hubby", who happens to be very supportive of my "hobby" sent me this article about night photography and how to get good results. At first glance, I thought the second photo on the article looked nicer, but as I read, compared and practiced, I came to agree with the author that taking night photos just right after sunset when the sky hasn't turned completely black is easier, produces better colors and ultimately much better results.

So here's what I got so far. I don't think I'm there yet, but I guess I didn't fail to impress the hubby.  He's quite happy with these photos and said he's going to make them his screensaver at work.  Hehe...

By the way liz, read the article --- very helpful. Thanks.

Sus, lisura pod mu-timing ani liz uy. Unsa-on na lang kung cranky ang mga bata, i only have 10mins to spare... hehehe...

Salamat Dee! As usual, inspiring kaayo imong mga comments!

I basically just followed the article, but I used manual settings. Aperture is f/16 and shutter speed is 2 seconds. The article says 4" but it turned out too bright so I made it a little faster at 2".

You should try it yourself. I'm sure Doy is happy to watch the girls for a full 10 minutes, hehe...

About This Blog

I got interested in photography when I met my husband. He loved photography since the 80's when he owned a Canon AE1 SLR camera. When we got married, we met a great photographer who inspired me even more. I started taking photos when my husband and I got our DSLR camera back in 2005. I never really shared my photos. But lately, I've been introduced to photoblogging and I saw it to be a great way of expression. My photos are amateur but I hope to learn more as I blog and connect with people.
